Ingredients

250 g flour
50 g cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
75 g sugar
salt
2 egg at room temperature
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
100 g melted butter at room temperature
500 ml buttermilk at room temperature

Buttermilk Waffles

are such a comforting treat and perfect for a relaxed breakfast. They are light, fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. I love to enjoy my waffles with lots of fruit and a generous dusting of powdered sugar. I’m almost positive that this buttermilk waffle recipe will be your new favorite in the morning. Breakfast will be very special and especially when you get the buttery and vanilla flavors in every single bite.

NOTE:

  • I use all the ingredients at room temperature. Take out the eggs and buttermilk a half hour before you make the waffles.
  • The melted butter should be also at room temperature, so you can melt the butter 15 minutes before you start.
  • When you begin to make the batter, just directly turn on the waffle maker.

Preheat oven to 100°C. Set a rack on a baking sheet and place in oven.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

Add the eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and pour a little bit of buttermilk. Whisk and continue with the rest of buttermilk.
Mix just until batter is well-combined and smooth.
Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.

Pour the batter onto the waffle maker, leaving 1 cm border on all sides or spread batter if necessary.
Close the lid. Cook the waffles until golden brown and crisp, for about 3-5 minutes.

Transfer the cooked waffles to the wire rack and keep warm in the preheated oven as you cook the remaining batter. Serve the waffles immediately with maple syrup, or with any toppings you desire!
