Spaghetti Bolognese

The bolognese sauce known in Italy as ragù alla bolognese. This is one of the favorite sauce for spaghetti.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef

  • 3 Tbsp olive oil

  • 500 g ground beef

  • 1 medium chopped onion

  • 2 cloves crushed garlic

  • 2 carrots

  • 2 celery stalks

  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 tsp oregano

  • 1/2 tsp basil

  • 1 tsp curry powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 4 Tbsp parmiggiano reggiano

  • 500 g spaghetti

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 4 Tbsp parmiggiano reggiano

Steps

  • chopped finely the carrots and celery stalks, set aside. In a large pan preheated over medium high, cook the ground beef with olive oil until cooked through. Add the chopped onion and the crushed garlic, and let it cook for about 3 minutes.

  • Add the chopped carrots and celery and cook for about 5 minutes. Add the tomato paste and stir until well combined with the ground beef. Pour one can of crushed tomatoes and the water. Bring to the boil.
  • Reduce the heat to medium. Season the sauce with salt, sugar, black pepper, curry powder, dried basil, dried oregano and bay leaf. Partially cover and simmer for about 30 minutes, check on it periodically.
  • After 30 minutes, take the bay leaf out from the pan. Meanwhile cook the spaghetti to boiling water, and put a teaspoon of salt. Cook the spaghetti with following pack instructions. Once spaghetti is cooked (al dente), drain them and add 2 tablespoon of olive oil. Stir until the spaghetti not stick each other.
  • Put the spaghetti into a plate and add the bolognese sauce over it. Serve with Fresh Parmiggiano Reggiano, enjoy!
